‎Kebbi State Police Command has arrested a 30-year-old man, Suleman Mamuda, for allegedly killing his wife, Umaima Maidawa, aged 25, in Bayawa Village, Augie local government area of the state.

The Command’s Public Relations Officer SP Bashir Usman disclosed this to newsmen in Birnin Kebbi, the state capital.

‎According to the statement, the incident occurred on 13th January, 2026, when the suspect reportedly used the wooden handle of a hoe to strike his wife, resulting in her death.

The husband Sulaiman Mamuda later fled the area but was traced and arrested following police investigation and information received from members of the community.

‎The Commissioner of Police, Kebbi State Command, CP Umar Mohammed Hadejia, has directed that, the case be transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) for discreet investigation and prosecution.

‎The Kebbi State Police Command urges members of the public to report incidents timely and continue to support law enforcement agencies with useful informations aimed at maintaining peace and stability across the State.
