The Emir of Rano, Dr. Muhammad Isa Umaru Autan Bawo III, has cautioned intending pilgrims to desist from illegal practice of keeping other people’s luggage, both at home and while in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.

The warning was issued during the opening ceremony of the 2026 Hajj orientation workshop for intending pilgrims from local government areas within the Rano Zone.

The Emir expressed satisfaction with the efforts of the Kano State Pilgrims Welfare Board and the Kano State Government under the leadership of Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf, particularly the initiatives introduced to improve the welfare of pilgrims from the early stages of Hajj preparations to their safe return to Nigeria.

According to a press statement issued by the Zonal Information Officer, Rano Zone, Abdullahi Musa Gyadi Gyadi, the Emir also advised intending pilgrims to attend all Hajj orientation lectures in order to fully understand the rules, regulations, and proper procedures of the pilgrimage, as explained by Islamic scholars.

In his remarks, the Chairman of Rano Local Government Council, Malam Muhammad Naziru Ya’u Rano, emphasized the importance of the workshop, stressing that a proper understanding of the rites of Hajj was essential for pilgrims to perform an acceptable pilgrimage.

He urged pilgrims to avoid any actions that could invalidate their worship or tarnish their image, and to conduct themselves as good ambassadors of Rano Local Government, Kano State, and Nigeria.

Also speaking, the Secretary of the Kano State Pilgrims Welfare Board, Alhaji Lamin Rabi’u Danbaffa, represented by the Director of Aviation at the Board, Alhaji Aminu Yakasai, said intending pilgrims must be spiritually prepared to resist temptations and avoid acts that could negatively affect their pilgrimage.

He added that  Kano State Government, in collaboration with the State Pilgrims Welfare Board, had put adequate measures in place to ensure that pilgrims perform their religious obligations in a conducive and well-organized environment.
