The Kano State House of Assembly, has commenced a three-day capacity-building workshop for Councillors and Administrative Secretaries of the 44 Local Government areas .

In a statement issue by the Speaker’s Spokesperson, Kamaluddeen Sani Shawai, the Speaker Jibril Isma’il Falgore explained that the training is designed to equip participants with essential knowledge and skills in legislative practice and procedures, in line with global democratic standards.
He reaffirmed the Assembly’s commitment to strengthening local government institutions and commended the support of the Kano State Governor, the House Committee on Local Government, and the Ministry of Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs for their dedication to the initiative.
Earlier, the Chairman of the House Committee on Local Government, Aliyu Muhammed Tiga, stressed the pivotal role of local government councillors in upholding democratic ethics and promoting sustainable development at the community level.
Also speaking, the Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, represented by the Acting Permanent Secretary, Alhaji Ali S. Faragai, described the workshop as the first-ever collaborative effort between the Ministry and the Kano State House of Assembly.
He noted that the initiative reflects the shared vision of Governor Engr. Abba Kabir Yusuf and Speaker Falgore for a stronger, more effective local government system in Kano State.
The workshop, themed “The Role of Local Government Councillors in Kano’s Commitment to True and Sustainable Democratic Ethics and Development,” is scheduled to run for three days.
