The Nigerian Army has said that it is looking at the possibility of embarking on massive deployment of the military to some flashpoints in Niger state to curtail the current wave of attacks on communities by bandits towards apprehending such miscreants as ordered by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
Chief Of Army Staff, Lieutenant General Waidi Shaibu stated this in an interview after declaring opened the five day training of TRADOC Nigerian Army Doctrine and Training Conference 2026, with the theme “Enhancing Nigerian Operational Outcomes Through Effective Training and Doctrine Implementation” held in Minna, Niger state.
Lieutenant General Waidi Shaibu explained that the Nigerian Army will leverage on various technology inputs on how it will impact positively on the various operation the troops are operating to stem the tide of attacks in Niger state, towards countering emerging security challenges in the state and Nigeria.
He however commended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for sustaining his support aimed at ensuring the success of their annual training which will continue to be accorded prominence, however assured of his readiness to transform the Nigerian Army into a more professional, adaptable, combat-ready and resilience force capable of decisively discharging its constitutional responsibilities within a joint and multi- agency environment.
Lieutenant General Waidi Shaibu who reaffirmed his unalloyed loyalty and support to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu led administration said he will go all out to provide a purposeful leadership that would helped in no small measure at combating security challenges in Nigeria.
In his remarks the Commander TRADOC Nigerian Army Minna, Major General Philip Malla, said the emphasis is on a robust administration , operational readiness, strategic cooperation and exemplary leadership that provides a form of anchor for all their training and doctrinal activities and appreciated the the Chief Of Army Staff, Lieutenant General Waidi Shaibu for his visionary leadership and consistent commitment to repositioning the Nigerian Army for optimal operational effectiveness.
The Chief Of Army Staff in company of Commander TRADOC Nigerian Army and other high ranking military officers later visited Former Military President, General Ibrahim Badamasi Babangida at his hilltop residence in Minna and the former Head of State, General Abdulsalami Abubakar retired to pay homage.
