The Zamfara State Police Command has announced the successful completion of a joint Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) sweep operation along the Gusau–Magami–Dansadau Road.

This was contained in a statement issued by the Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Yazid Abubakar, on behalf of the Commissioner of Police, Zamfara State Command.

The operation followed a tragic incident that occurred on 27th December, 2025, when an Improvised Explosive Device (IED) detonated along the Magami–Dansadau axis, resulting in the loss of eight 8 lives and the destruction of property.

In response to the incident, the Commissioner of Police, CP Ibrahim Balarabe Maikaba, immediately directed the Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) Base 25, Gusau, to conduct a comprehensive sweep of the affected route to ensure the safety of lives and property.

Consequently, a joint operation involving the Police EOD Team, Military EOD operatives, and the Joint Task Force under Operation Fansa-Yamma was carried out and the exercise was led by the Officer-in-Charge of EOD, SP Abdurraziq Musa Hassan, with adequate security backup provided by the Command.

According to the statement, the operation was successfully concluded on 30th December, 2025, at about 2000 hours. Following the thorough sweep, the Gusau–Magami–Dansadau Road has been cleared and declared safe for normal vehicular and human movement.

The Zamfara State Police Command, in collaboration with sister security agencies, reaffirms its unwavering commitment to safeguarding lives and property across the state.
