The Kano State House of Assembly has passed the 2026 proposed appropriation bill totaling ₦1,477,829,666,131.

The passage followed the second reading and consideration in the Committee of the Whole during plenary presided over by Speaker Alhaji Jibril Isma’il Falgore.

Recall that last month, Governor Alhaji Abba Kabir Yusuf presented the 2026 Appropriation Bill to the State House of Assembly.

The proposed budget features an unprecedented 68% capital expenditure amounting to ₦934.6 billion, and 32% recurrent expenditure totaling ₦433.4 billion, one of the highest capital-to-recurrent ratios in the state’s recent history.

With the passage by the House, the budget will now be transmitted to Governor Yusuf for assent, as stipulated by law.

In another development, the Kano State House of Assembly held a valedictory session in honor of Aminu Sa’ad (Ungogo) and Sarki Aliyu Danaji (Kano Municipal), who passed away in active service on Wednesday, 24th December 2025.

During the session, Speaker Falgore described the deaths of the two lawmakers who passed away hours apart as a grievous blow to both the Assembly and the state.

He described the deceased as dedicated public servants who championed initiatives that improved community welfare and enriched democratic values. Speaker Falgore extended heartfelt condolences to Governor Yusuf, Senator Kwankwaso, the families, and Kano citizens, affirming that the lawmakers’ contributions will always be cherished.
