Speaker of the House of Representatives, Dr Tajudeen Abbas, has urged Christians to use the Christmas season to pray for divine intervention in Nigeria’s socio-economic, political and security challenges.
In a congratulatory message issued through his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Musa Abdullahi Krishi, the Speaker called for a collective national rebirth anchored on unity among Christians, Muslims and adherents of other faiths.
Dr Abbas said the birth and life of Jesus Christ symbolise humility, holiness, courage, compassion and devotion to God, urging Christians to reflect these virtues in their daily lives for the good of society.
Similarly, the Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Mr Benjamin Kalu, described Christmas as a period for deep reflection on the life and teachings of Jesus Christ, particularly His love for humanity.
In a statement by his Chief Press Secretary, Levinus Nwabughiogu, Mr Kalu highlighted the values of compassion, unity and national progress, and encouraged Nigerians to continue praying for peace and unity, expressing optimism about the country’s future.
Both leaders of the National Assembly reaffirmed their commitment to building a nation that all citizens would be proud of in the near future.
