The Benue State Chairman of Jama’atu Nasril Islam (JNI), Alhaji Garba Baba, has described the resolve of religious groups to unite and promote peaceful coexistence in the northern geopolitical zone as a step in the right direction.

Alhaji Garba Baba, who is also a former Chairman of the State Muslim Pilgrims Welfare Board, stated this in an interview in Kaduna.

He expressed delight over meetings held by religious organisations to address the socio-economic and political challenges facing the people, and called for the necessary cooperation to achieve the desired objectives.

He noted that unity among all stakeholders in the zone is paramount, considering the level of hatred and insecurity witnessed over the years, despite efforts at reconciliation among religious, cultural, and other groups.

The Benue State JNI Chairman further suggested regular meetings involving stakeholders from the 19 northern states to remind the people of the need for unity, peace, and progress, in order to uphold the legacy of the founding fathers without sentiment.
