Media Practitioners have been reminded on the need to always cross check their facts before going on air or publication to enhance the credibility of their work.

Minister of Information and National Orientation, Mohammed Idris Malagi gave the reminder at the second Anniversary of Daza Tv and Tsalle Daya Media Services, as well as the presentation of awards to deserving individuals and organisations which took place in Minna, the Niger state capital.

Represented by the Managing Director, Ashraf Energy Solution, Alh Hassan Dantani Na’atoto, the Minister, Mohammed Idris gave an assurance that he will continue to support initiatives aimed at providing sustainable livelihood for the unemployed youths, especially on online media, and assured the Daza Tv and Tsalle Daya Media Services of his readiness to support them at all times to succeed.

Delivering paper titled, New Media Journalism, Opportunities and Challenges, the Managing Director Prestige Fm Radio Minna, Alh Zubairu Idris Abdulra’uf warned against allowing the social media and artificial intelligence unchecked as they are fuelling the problems of misinformation, misrepresentation and fake news, therefore stressed the need for all hands to be on deck to achieve maximum results.

Also speaking after receiving his award of excellence, Special Adviser to the Niger state Governor Political and Strategy, Mohammed Nma Kolo  said the award will spur him to do more, and described Nuruddeen Isyaku Daza as a very humble and responsible person who is contributing his quota to the development of Journalism profession in Niger state and beyond.

In his remarks the Chief Executive Officer Daza Tv and Tsalle Daya Media Services, Nuruddeen Isyaku Daza explained that the second anniversary was organized to re appraise themselves on the journey so far towards providing better ways to forge ahead, and advised Journalists to be honest, sincere and objective in their Reportage.

Among those that have received the award of excellence and recognition were the Minister of Information and National Orientation, Mohammed Idris, Alh Mohammed Nma Kolo the Jawon Minna, retired staff of Radio Niger and Sport analyst Usman Kuta, MD Prestige Radio Zubairu Abdulra’uf as well as some of the stations executive officers and Niger state Council of NUJ among others.
