Chairman of the Jigawa State House of Assembly Committee on Local Government Affairs, Alhaji Aminu Zakari, has called on the Ministry of Local Government to produce a comprehensive copy of its 2026 budget within the first quarter of the year.

He made the call while assessing the Ministry’s budget proposal at the State House of Assembly, in Dutse.

Alhaji Aminu Zakari called on the ministry to ensure the payment of salaries of some supervisory councillors within December this year as currently there are about 21 councilors who are yet to receive their salaries.

He further explained that the committee had also received compliant over the non-payment of some local government staff resulting from the IPPS Staff data validation.

In his remark, the Commissioner for local government Alhaji Ibrahim Garba Hannun Giwa, assured to take the necessary steps to address the issues.

He said more than 13 billion Naira was earmarked for the capital and recurrent expenditures in 2026 fiscal year.

Hannun Giwa pointed out that, the ministry will embark on the renovation of 7 Zonal inspector’s offices.

He added that, the construction of Babura and Kafin Hausa zonal offices will also be completed.

He said official vehicles and motorcycles will be procured for zonal inspectors and their deputies.

The commissioner said, logistics would also be provided for effective monitoring.
