The Theatre Commander of Operation Fansan Yamma, Major General Bello Warrah, has reaffirmed his commitment to introducing new concepts and innovations aimed at completely eradicating banditry and terrorism across the Northwest.

He stated this during a courtesy visit to Governor Dauda Lawal at the Government House in Gusau,

According to him, the command intends to introduce new operational concepts with the aim not just to reduce banditry, but to completely eradicate it.

Major General Warrah stressed that, several key terrorist leaders reside within various communities in Zamfara or maintain alliances with criminal groups operating from the forests which he said makes Zamfara a top priority in the operational strategy for the coming weeks.

He noted that efforts are currently underway to gather the required manpower, logistics, and equipment needed to implement a more mobile and aggressive operational posture across all sectors in the theatre.

Warrah also highlighted the need for critical combat enablers and appealed for continued support from states within the Northwest and North Central regions particularly in intelligence sharing, information gathering, and logistics.

Major General Warrah expressed appreciation to the governor for making time to receive him and his team from the Theatre Command headquarters.

He also commended Governor Lawal for his consistent support to the Theatre Command, noting that the assistance in logistics and other incentives has been ongoing since the establishment of the operation.

The Theatre Commander disclosed that since assuming office, he has visited several formations under his command to ensure smooth operation.

He emphasized that, Operation Fansan Yamma is not limited to Zamfara, but covers seven states: Kebbi, Zamfara, Sokoto, Niger, Kwara, and parts of Kaduna and called the support of the states.

Major General Warrah thanked Governor Lawal for approving a permanent site for the Headquarters of the Joint Task Force, Operation Fansan Yamma.

While reflecting on his return to Zamfara after many years, the Commander praised the improvements in road networks and other infrastructure under the current administration.

He concluded by emphasizing the importance of stabilizing Zamfara—described as the epicentre of the crisis—saying that once peace is restored there, banditry and terrorism will significantly decline across the region.

In a remarks, Governor Dauda Lawal revealed that, his administration has procured more Armoured Personnel Carriers (APCs) to bolster the capacity of security agencies in the fight against banditry.

He reaffirmed his stance against negotiating with criminals and pledged continued support to security forces working to curb the growing insecurity in the state.

Governor Dauda Lawal assured that his administration would continue to working assiduously to ensure peace in the state.
