Troops of the 6 Brigade, Nigerian Army/Sector 3 Operation Whirl Stroke, have recorded major operational breakthroughs across Taraba State under Operations Peace Shield and Zafin Wuta.

The operations led to the foiling of an armed robbery, the rescue of kidnapped victims, and the recovery of illegal weapons.

This was disclosed in a statement issued by Lieutenant Umar Muhammad, Acting Assistant Director of Army Public Relations, 6 Brigade.

According to the statement, troops at Manya on 6 December 2025 responded to a distress call reporting an armed robbery along the Manya–Takum Road.

The soldiers swiftly launched a clearance operation, forcing the criminals to flee and abandon their weapons.

A search of the scene resulted in the recovery of one AK-47 rifle, one magazine and three rounds of 7.62mm special ammunition.

The intervention prevented potential casualties and restored movement along the busy route.

In another operation on 7 December 2025, troops at Kufai Amadu received intelligence that four travellers from Bauchi State had been abducted in Amadu Town while heading to Baissa in Kurmi LGA.

Investigations showed the victims were misled while seeking directions before two of them were forcibly taken away.

During coordinated search efforts, the troops rescued two victims, identified as Yusuf Musa and Muhammed Umar, who escaped from their captors. Search operations are ongoing to locate the remaining abductees, Musa Danji and Yusuf, with intensified efforts to track down the kidnappers.

Similarly, troops at Iware conducted an intelligence-led operation at Garin Sambo in Tau Village, Ardo Kola LGA, where they recovered two pump-action guns, 13 cartridges, two motorcycles and four mobile phones.

Two suspects, Baba Wura Sambo and Mallam Adamu Darda, were arrested and are in military custody.

Commander of the 6 Brigade, Brigadier General Kingsley Chidiebere Uwa, commended the troops for their professionalism and responsiveness during the operations.

He reaffirmed the Brigade’s commitment to sustaining aggressive actions to eliminate criminal activities across the state.

He assured residents and commuters, especially during the Yuletide season, of continued security along major highways and communities to ensure safe and unhindered movement.

General Uwa urged the public to remain vigilant and provide timely information to support ongoing efforts to maintain peace and security in Taraba State.
