Kwara State Ministry of Social Development has organised a handball game for para-athletes from within and outside the state and empowerment to scores of persons with disabilities.

 

Speaking at the event, the State Commissioner for Social Development, Dr. Mariam Nnafatima Imam, said the programme was organised to show them love, ease their movement, and support their businesses to thrive.

 

She appreciated the state governor for being passionate about the welfare of persons with disabilities in the state.

 

Dr. Imam explained that over the years, the state had done skill acquisition for people with disabilities and empowered many of them with POS machines, and even cash transfers, to ensure they are inclusive in government activities.

 

Items distributed included mobility aids wheelchairs, tricycles, crutches, white cane, and sunscreen to albinos among others.
