Governors of the nineteen northern states have been commended for the steps taken to address insecurity across the geopolitical zone.

Former legislator, Senator Mas’ud El-Jibril Dogowa, gave the commendation while reacting to the outcome of the governors’ meeting in Kaduna, where they resolved to establish a security trust fund with a monthly contribution of nineteen billion naira.

Senator Dogowa, however, stressed the need for the judicious use of the fund to meet public expectations and ensure the protection of lives and property.

He suggested involvement of retired top security personnel with relevant experience to assist with required intelligence on banditry to deal with the menace.

The former lawmaker called for steps to facilitate public transpiration to replace commercial motorcycles banned in Kano State as part of strategies to fight insecurity without causing social problems.
