The Kano State Police Command has announced the strict enforcement of the existing ban on conveying passengers on motorcycles across the state, as well as the restriction on commercial tricycles from operating between 10:00 pm and 6:00 am daily.
In a statement issued by the Police Command said the enforcement follows the standing directives of the Kano State Government and applies to nine Local Government Areas within the metropolitan axis.
The affected LGAs include Kano Municipal, Gwale, Dala, Fagge, Nassarawa, Tarauni, Kumbotso, Ungogo (Jido area), and Dawakin Kudu (Tambuwal, Gurjiya, and Jido wards).
The Command noted that its enforcement teams, in collaboration with other security agencies, have been empowered to thoroughly profile violators and curb the spread of misleading information capable of causing public fear or confusion.
It reminded motorcycle and tricycle operators that the measures are aimed at enhancing public safety and security across the state.
According to the statement anyone found violating the ban or operating within the restricted hours will be arrested and prosecuted.
Commissioner of Police, CP Ibrahim Adamu Bakori, urged residents to comply with the directives and cooperate with security agencies in maintaining peace and order.
The statement added that the enforcement operation includes the active participation of the Kano Road and Traffic Agency (KAROTA) to ensure full compliance for the safety of all residents.
