Nigeria has renewed efforts to end HIV by 2030, with First Lady Senator Oluremi Tinubu calling on citizens, leaders, and health partners to join the national drive.

Speaking at the 2025 World AIDS Day commemoration at the State House, Oluremi Tinubu stressed that an HIV-free future is achievable if efforts remain focused, inclusive, and well-supported.

She highlighted progress in prevention, treatment, and care but emphasized that continued commitment is essential to ensure all Nigerians have access to lifesaving services.

The First Lady urged a fight against stigma and discrimination, which continue to prevent many from seeking help. She also highlighted national efforts to eliminate mother-to-child transmission, expand pediatric HIV treatment, and build long-term sustainability for local HIV programs.

She praised the National AIDS and STDs Control Programme (NASCP) for recent gains supported by the Global Fund.

While donor funding remains significant, the federal government has approved $200 million to strengthen HIV, tuberculosis, and malaria programs.

Oluremi Tinubu commended the National Agency for the Control of AIDS (NACA) for engaging state governments to ensure long-term ownership of the response.
