The National Union of Pensioners has been advised to support the efforts of the Coalition of Federal Pensioners in demanding the immediate payment of accumulated benefits owed to retirees across the country.

A community leader and retired NTA staff, Alhaji Ibrahim Fagge, who gave the advice in Kaduna, expressed dismay over calls by the union’s leadership to stop the peaceful protest planned by senior citizens next month.

Alhaji Fagge reminded NUP leaders that recent meetings convened by the management of the Pensions Transitional Arrangement Directorate were unproductive, stressing that meaningful progress can only be achieved when the outstanding benefits are fully paid as promised.

He stressed the need for the coalition, headed by Comrade Mukaila Ogunbote not to relent in its commitments towards the settlements of such benefits which had been supported by all retirees including those in the diaspora for effective impact.

Alhhaji Ibrahim Fagge noted that the NUP was expected to use opportunity of its meeting with PTAD to advise for payment of all benefits accumulated over the years to justify their sacrifice.
