Governor Mohammed Umar Bago of Niger state, has called for stringent measures against informants to bandits in the country.
He made the call when he led a state delegation to commiserate with the Emir of Borgu, Alh. Muhammad Haliru Dantoro Kitoro IV, in his palace at New Bussa over the kidnap of ST Mary Catholic School pupils and teachers of Papiri, in Agwara Local Government Council.
Governor Umar Bago observed that informants are mostly behind terrorist attacks and that stiffer measures against them would helped to address problems of insecurity. saying that security agencies n collaboration with Niger state government, are making concerted efforts to ensure that kidnapped school children are rescued in no distant time.
He however emphasised the need for people to collaborate with security agencies by providing useful information that will lead to the rescue of the children while cautioning the people against religious bigotry and intolerance to avoid disharmony among people.
Emir of Borgu, Alh. Muhammad Haliru Dantoro Kitoro IV appreciated the visit and described him as a passionate and exemplary leader who has shown that he loves and cares for his people, however decried how bandits have taken over the Borgu forest and called on the state and Federal governments to as a matter of urgency reclaim it .
Minister of State for Agriculture Aliyu Sabi Abdullahi commended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for his swift response to the incident and expressed belief that the children will be rescued and banditry activities will also come to an end in Nigeria.
