Leaders at all levels in the country have been urged to focus on socio-economic development rather than engaging in unnecessary celebrations funded with public resources.

A public affairs analyst, Alhaji Idris Aliyu Kaura, made the appeal in an interview in Kaduna.

Alhaji Idris expressed dismay over recent celebrations attended by prominent personalities, including governors and ministers, while reports of banditry continue to emerge from many parts of the country, leading to loss of lives and property.

He stressed the need for an immediate halt to such celebrations, which he described as unfortunate, and urged the adoption of proactive measures to ensure the safety of citizens and justify democratic governance.

Alhaji Idris Aliyu noted that the request by the National Assembly for presidential approval to recruit over one hundred thousand policemen and soldiers to improve security was a step in the right direction and should not be delayed
