The Chairman of Gwarzo Local Government Area, Dr. Mani Tsoho, has inaugurated a high-level Peace and Security Committee comprising Fulani herders, farmers, security agencies, and community leaders.

The inauguration ceremony took place at the Gwarzo LGA Secretariat.

Speaking during the event, Dr. Tsoho said the committee was established to strengthen peaceful coexistence, prevent potential conflicts, and ensure a smooth and orderly harvest season across the LGA.

To this end, he issued a directive to all farmers to begin harvesting their crops from 14th November 2025 to 23rd December 2025, noting that the timeline is designed to protect lives, farmlands, and property.

He also gave a firm warning to Fulani herders, instructing them to refrain from entering or grazing within Gwarzo LGA until the harvest season is fully completed.

According to him, the temporary restriction is necessary to prevent farm destruction and maintain lasting peace between farmers and herders.

The newly inaugurated committee includes top security stakeholders such as the DSS, Divisional Police Officer (DPO), Immigration Service, and Civil Defense Corps.

The Head of the Agriculture Department will serve as the Committee Secretary, responsible for coordinating field operations and ensuring full compliance with directives issued by the Chairman.

As part of its mandate, the committee will embark on a community to community sensitization tour across all wards engaging village heads and residents on essential security measures and promoting harmonious relations between farmers and Fulani herders throughout the harvest season.
