The Federal Government has deployed additional security personnel to Zamfara State to strengthen ongoing military operations against banditry.
Minister of State for Defence, Dr. Bello Mohammed Matawalle, announced this at an APC stakeholders’ meeting in Gusau, stating he had directed troops to eliminate any bandits encountered without delay.
He said fresh orders had been issued for security operatives to confront threats decisively, noting that there should be “no waiting for further instructions.”
Dr. Matawalle alleged that despite several attempts to collaborate with the state governor on security matters, there had been no response from the state government.
He assured residents that military operations would continue across forests and vulnerable areas until peace is restored in Zamfara and beyond.
The Minister commended citizens for their support, particularly appreciating Kaura Namoda residents for backing the APC in the recent bye-election.
He clarified that the ongoing Funtua–Gusau–Talata Mafara–Sokoto road project is fully funded by the Federal Government, warning residents not to be misled by contrary claims.
Dr. Matawalle said no administration has supported Zamfara as much as President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s, alleging that nearly ₦1 trillion has been allocated to the state in two years.
He claimed that each Local Government Area receives between ₦3–4 billion monthly, while Gusau receives up to ₦10 billion, urging citizens to question how such funds are utilized.
On dismissed workers, he assured that an APC-led government would reinstate them and pay all outstanding salaries.
The meeting also reaffirmed APC stakeholders’ endorsement of President Tinubu for a second term in 2027, with the Minister receiving a validation letter from Zamfara APC for onward transmission to the President.
The event was attended by party leaders, supporters, and other stakeholders under tight security.
