Kaduna State Command of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency NDLEA has destroyed illicit drugs valued at over ₦10 billion.
The drugs weighing more than 52,000 kilograms were destroyed in Kufena, a community located on the Zaria-Birnin Gwari road.
In a remark at the event, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of the NDLEA Brigadier General Mohammed Buba Marwa rtd represented by Deputy Commander of Narcotics Suleiman Ningi said the destruction was the fallout of a court order.
General Marwa insisted that the NDLEA would continue to go after drug dealers, confiscate their property and forfeit same to the federal government.
The Commander of Narcotics in kaduna State, Mohammed Tukur listed the destroyed drugs to include Cocaine, Tramadol, Crystal Methamphetamine, Codeine Based Syrup, Pentazocine Injection and Heroine amongst many other hard substances.

Mohammed Tukur said the destruction marked a visible and resolute demonstration of commitment to safeguard communities from the devastating effects of illicit drugs and other substances which have continued to destroy lives, fuel crime and threaten peace and security.
The representative of Governor Uba Sani of Kaduna State and Special Adviser on Drugs and Narcotics Umar Baba Bambale maintained that each kilogram burnt represented a life potentially saved and a restored future of many young people in particular.
He was of the view that the moral recovery of the nation must begin with the collective intolerance to drugs in homes, schools and communities.
