The Senate Leader, Senator Opeyemi Bamidele, has dismissed media reports alleging a plot to remove the President of the Senate, Senator Godswill Akpabio, describing the claims as false, misleading, and intended to create division within the National Assembly.

Speaking during Wednesday’s plenary, Senator Bamidele clarified that no such discussions or considerations had taken place among senators, stressing that the upper chamber remains united and committed to addressing pressing national issues.

Senator Bamidele confirmed that there was no attempt by any of our colleagues, nor any discussion around the possibility or otherwise of the removal of the Senate President from office,

He said we are totally united and have developed a zero-tolerance attitude toward distractions because there are urgent issues of public importance we need to attend to.

His clarification followed earlier remarks by Senator Orji Uzor Kalu, representing Abia North, who on Tuesday addressed journalists at the Senate over rumours of internal disputes.

Kalu, a former Governor of Abia State, reaffirmed that the Senate stands firmly behind Akpabio’s leadership and that there is no crisis within the Red Chamber.
