The Jigawa State Executive Council has approved a contract worth over ₦1.3 billion for the maintenance and upgrade of existing electrification projects across the state.

The Commissioner for Information, Youth, Sports and Culture, Alhaji Sagir Musa Ahmed, disclosed this to newsmen in Dutse.

He said the approval aligns with the Namadi administration’s commitment to improving power supply and promoting inclusive development across rural communities.

Sagir Musa Ahmed added that the project demonstrates the government’s resolve to enhance access to electricity, stimulate economic growth, and improve living standards in both urban and rural areas.

He pointed out that, the scope of work includes the supply and installation of transformers, Inter-town connection of 33KV lines, and replacement of damaged electricity poles across several localities in the state.

According to him, the benefiting towns include Madaka in Gagarawa, Bosuwa in Maigatari, Mai Tsamiya and Unguwar Gawo in Sule-Tankarkar, Yandamo in Gumel, Farin in Dutse, Giginya in Gwaram, Kwanar Dindu to Bulangu in Kafin Hausa, Kanya Babba in Babura and Garki in Garki local government areas.

He explained that this strategic investment reflects the Namadi administration’s unwavering commitment to delivering sustainable infrastructure and ensuring that every community benefits from the dividends of democracy.

Sagir said, Namadi’s administration also Approved the award of contract for the construction of solar-powered water supply schemes for newly constructed Danmodi housing estates.

The housing estates located in Birnin Kudu, Kafin Hausa, Kazaure, Ringim, and Nguru Road–Hadejia.

The commissioner said the contract valued at over 378 million naira underscores the administration’s commitment to providing essential infrastructure that enhances the livability and sustainability of new housing developments across the state.

He added that, the project will ensure steady access to clean and reliable water supply through the use of renewable energy, in line with the government’s drive to promote environmental sustainability and energy efficiency.

He said, the approval reflects the Namadi administration’s holistic approach to development integrating housing, water, and renewable energy to improve
the quality of life for all citizens.
