Nigerians have been advised to unite and work towards the effective development of the country in order to justify democratic governance.

An elder statesman, Alhaji Nuhu Muktar, gave the advice in an interview in Kaduna.

Alhaji Nuhu Muktar, a former Pro-Chancellor of the Federal University, Kashere in Gombe State, expressed concern over alleged divisions among citizens following threats by the team of former American President, Donald Trump, against Nigeria.

He said such foreign threats should strengthen national unity and encourage citizens to defend the nation, rather than engage in unnecessary controversies based on religious and tribal sentiments that undermine peaceful resolution of challenges.

Alhaji Nuhu Muktar also stressed the need for political leaders to avoid acts that may divide the country for ulterior motives while calling for prayers expected to promote peace, unity and progress witnessed decades ago.
