Tragedy struck in Kano State as two children lost their lives in separate incidents after falling into open wells in Dawakin Tofa and Dala Local Government Areas.
The Public relations Officer , Kano State Fire Service Saminu Yusif Abdullahi confirmed the incident to Radio Nigeria in Kano.
According to him, the first incident occurred on Tuesday, November 4, 2025 at about 8:53 a.m. when an eight-year-old girl identified as Zara’u Muhammad fell into a deep well in Kashirmo Village, Sarkakiya, Dawakin Tofa Local Government Area.
He noted that the agency received a distress call from Kabiru Abdullahi, but despite local residents’ efforts to rescue the child before the arrival of the fire crew, the attempt proved unsuccessful due to the depth of the well and the high level of water.
He said the victim’s body was subsequently handed over to the village head, Abdullahi Garba.
Saminu explained that the second tragic incident occurred on Wednesday, November 5, 2025, at about 10:02 a.m. when a six-year-old boy, Ahmad Abdurashid, fell into a well at Dandishe Tsamiyar Goodluck, Dala Local Government Area.
The public relations officer maintained that although the boy was rescued unconscious, he was later confirmed dead, saying that his remains were handed over to his father, Abdurashid, of Dandishe Quarters.
Reacting to the incidents, the Director of the Kano State Fire Service Alhaji Sani Anas, expressed deep sadness over the repeated tragedies and called on parents and community leaders to take preventive measures.
