The Kano State Commissioner for Livestock Development, Dr. Aliyu Isa Aliyu, has embarked on sensitization visits to Ajingi and Dawakin TofaLocal Government Areas to promote peaceful coexistence between farmers and herders.

The visits are part of the ministry’s conflict mitigation strategy aimed at engaging communities ahead of the return of pastoralists from the Niger Republic.

Dr. Aliyu led a delegation comprising security agencies, ministry officials, and leaders of herders’ and farmers’ associations.

In Ajingi, the commissioner met with local stakeholders and emphasized the need for peace, dialogue, and mutual understanding to prevent conflicts.

The District Head’s representative, Alhaji Abdulkadir Abdullahi, and the Local Government Chairman, Dr. Abdulhadi Chula, commended the initiative and thanked Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf for establishing the Ministry of Livestock Development and appointing a capable commissioner.

At Dawakin Tofa, the commissioner was represented by the Director of Administration and General Services, Yahya Sani Abbas, who reiterated the government’s commitment to farmers’ and herders’ welfare.

The District Head’s representative, Malam Mohd Ubale, pledged full cooperation with the ministry to ensure lasting peace in the area.

Dr. Aliyu assured that the ministry will continue working with associations to modernize livestock production through improved breeds, milk processing, veterinary services, and laboratory facilities initiatives aimed at transforming the livestock sector in Kano State.
