The Senate has resolved to confirm all the newly appointed Service Chiefs tomorrow, to fast-track legislative approval and enable them to assume duties without delay.

The resolution followed an executive communication from President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, read by Senate President Godswill Akpabio, requesting the confirmation of Lieutenant General Olufemi Oluyede as Chief of Defence Staff.

After reading the communication, Senator Akpabio proposed that the Senate confirm all the Service Chiefs at once to avoid any security vacuum, a suggestion that received unanimous support from the lawmakers.

The request now includes the confirmation of Major-General Waheedi Shaibu as Chief of Army Staff, Rear Admiral Idi Abbas as Chief of Naval Staff, Air Vice Marshal Kennedy Aneke as Chief of Air Staff, and Major-General Emmanuel Undiendeye as Chief of Defence Intelligence.

The request has been referred to the Committee of the Whole for consideration and confirmation tomorrow.
