Federal Government has been advised to prioritize the implementation of the strategic Railway Master Plan, to which eight billion dollars was committed by the previous administration of the late President Muhammadu Buhari.

A former member of the National Assembly, Senator Mas’ud El-Jibril Doguwa, gave the advice in an interview in Kaduna.

Senator El-Jibril Doguwa expressed concern over reports that the project was being delayed, despite the payment of 1.9 billion dollars out of the eight-billion-dollar agreement with a Chinese company.

He noted that completion of the project covering northern and southern parts of the Country would facilitate transportation of essential commodities including agricultural produce considering dilapidation of roads infrastructure.

The former legislator also suggested purchase of additional Coaches for the Nigeria Railway Corporation to improve its services nationwide while security of passengers guaranteed to ensure effective patronage at affordable tariffs.
