The Chairman of Gwarzo Local Government Area, Dr. Mani Tsoho, has warned residents against the harmful practice of self-medication, describing it as a dangerous habit that poses serious risks to health and could lead to life-threatening complications.
Dr. Tsoho gave the warning during an inspection visit to Gwarzo General Hospital, where he interacted with patients, assessed the facility’s operations, and commended healthcare workers for their dedication and commitment to service.
He expressed concern that many health crises in the community result from the misuse and abuse of drugs without professional supervision. He therefore urged residents to always seek medical advice from qualified doctors and pharmacists before taking any form of medication.
The chairman also appealed to residents to promptly report any symptoms of illness or discomfort to the nearest hospital or healthcare center to ensure timely medical intervention.
Dr. Tsoho assured that the council has deployed qualified doctors and nurses across local health facilities to provide efficient and compassionate care.
Reaffirming his administration’s commitment to improving healthcare delivery in all wards, he said the council is investing in adequate drug supply, modern equipment, and continuous training for health workers.
Beyond health matters, the council boss also urged residents to remain vigilant and security-conscious, advising them to promptly report any suspicious activities or persons to the appropriate security agencies for swift response.
