The Nigeria Association of Women Journalists (NAWOJ), Kaduna State Chapter, has announced the commencement of its “Voices of Impact 2025: Women, Media & Social Change” activities scheduled to begin on October 29, 2025, while also addressing key issues affecting residents of the State.
This was part of the resolutions reached at the end of the Association’s Congress held on October 24, 2025, in Kaduna, where members deliberated extensively on governance, public welfare, and community development.
According to the communiqué signed by Hadiza Bello Abdullahi, Secretary of the Association, NAWOJ Kaduna’s week-long activities will begin with a Prison Visitation to the Kaduna Correctional Centre on Wednesday, 29th October, to commemorate Nigeria’s Independence Anniversary.
The visitation will be followed by a Medical Outreach at Sabon Gero Community, off Millennium City, Kaduna, on Thursday, 30th October, in celebration of the International Day of the Girl Child. The main event of the series, themed “Voices of Impact 2025: Women, Media & Social Change,” will hold on Saturday, 1st November 2025, at Arewa House, Kaduna.
During the Congress, members expressed serious concern over the rising menace of scavengers in various parts of the State, noting that some have been involved in burglaries and theft, breaking into homes under the guise of collecting scraps. NAWOJ therefore called on the Kaduna State Government and relevant security agencies to regulate, monitor, and sanitize scavenging activities to prevent insecurity and protect communities.
The Association also urged the government to urgently address the epileptic power supply that continues to hamper economic activities and affect the quality of life of residents.
In the same vein, NAWOJ Kaduna commended the State Government for emerging third in the Nigeria Climate Governance Ranking, describing the recognition as a reflection of its commitment to environmental sustainability and responsible climate action.
The Congress further applauded the ongoing Measles Vaccination Campaign, urging parents and caregivers to ensure full participation to safeguard the health and well-being of children across the State.
The Association also commended the State Government’s readiness to host the 2026 NIPR Week, noting that the event will strengthen professional collaboration and promote the State’s image nationally.
Reaffirming its commitment to ethical journalism, NAWOJ Kaduna pledged to continue amplifying women’s voices, advancing child welfare, and promoting good governance and social impact across Kaduna State and Nigeria at large.
