The Governing Council of the Federal University Dutsinma (FUDMA) has approved the appointment of Professor Muhammed Khalid Othman as the substantive Vice Chancellor of the institution.

Speaking to journalists in Dutse, Jigawa State, the University Registrar, Dr. Musa Ajiya, disclosed that the Pro-Chancellor and Chairman of the Governing Council, Ali Abubakar Jatau, announced the appointment following the Council’s 36th Special Meeting.

Dr. Ajiya explained that Professor Othman emerged as the successful candidate following a rigorous and transparent selection process involving 17 shortlisted applicants, from which the top three were presented to the Council for final approval.

Radio Nigeria reports that Professor Othman has served the university system from the rank of Assistant Lecturer to Professor, and has held several academic and administrative roles, including Executive Director of the National Agricultural Extension Research and Liaison Services (NAERLS), Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria.

He is currently a member of the University’s Governing Council, representing the Senate.
