The inclusion of women in peace building has been identified as key to the sustenance of democracy in the country.

Program Manager of Global Right, Mr. Edosa Oviawe stated this at a town hall meeting aimed at promoting peace and security through women inclusion and access to justice, held in Sokoto State.

He explained that the meeting was part of a transformative project aimed at advancing women’s voices in all democratic processes.

In a remark, the Sultan of Sokoto Muhammad Saad Abubakar commended the Global Rights and the Kukah Centre for their ongoing efforts in promoting peace and dialogue in the region.

Represented by the District Head of Gagi, Sani Umar Jabbi, the Sultan assured the
Sultanate’s commitment to supporting organisations working to advance peace and community welfare, noting that women’s involvement in peacebuilding has contributed significantly to conflict prevention and local stability.

Participants were drawn from government institutions, civil society groups, traditional leaders and security agencies in the state.
