The Speaker of the House of Representatives, Dr. Abbas Tajuddeen, has urged the leadership of the South South Development Commission (SSDC) to live up to their mandate by ensuring meaningful development, especially at the grassroots level.

He gave the charge while receiving a delegation from the Board and Management of the Commission during a courtesy visit to his office in Abuja.

Dr. Abbas Tajuddeen urged the Commission’s leadership to focus on addressing the socio-economic challenges of the region, noting that their appointment presents an opportunity to set a lasting legacy for future generations.

In statement by his Chief Press Secretary Mr Leke Olatunji, the Speaker however urged them to work closely with state governors to improve synergy while warning against corruption and duplication of projects in the interest of the region.

The Speaker expressed the commitment of the House to giving full support to the Commission to deliver sustainable development and stability to the South-South geopolitical zone.
