Kano State Ministry of Women Affairs, Children, and Persons with Special Needs, in collaboration with the Nigerian Export Promotion Council (NEPC), has organized a one-day Enlightenment Training on Women-Inclusive Export Competency and Modern Export Product Packaging.

The training held at the Women Vocational Skills Centre, Gyadi-Gyadi brought together women from various cooperative groups to gain hands-on knowledge on preparing their products for the export market and meeting international packaging standards.

Speaking at the event, the Commissioner, Ministry of Women Affairs, Children, and Persons with Special Needs, Hajiya Amina Abdullahi Sani, represented by the Director, Women Department, Bilkisu Shafi’u Jibril, emphasized the importance of equipping women with skills that enable them to participate actively in global trade.

She noted that the goal is to ensure women in Kano State are not left behind, adding that with the right skills and exposure, they can become successful exporters and contribute meaningfully to the economy.

The Commissioner noted that the initiative aligns with the broader commitment of the Kano State Government, to promote women’s economic empowerment and inclusive development.

Also speaking, the Regional Coordinator, Nigerian Export Promotion Council (North West), Amina Abdumalik, highlighted the benefits of modern product packaging, including extended product shelf life, enhanced brand identity, compliance with international standards, improved customer satisfaction, and increased competitiveness.

She encouraged participants to register with NEPC and leverage available support programs designed to assist women entrepreneurs.

Participants expressed appreciation to the organizers, describing the training as timely and impactful.

They also called for more capacity-building opportunities to help women expand their businesses beyond local markets.
