Jigawa State government has approved the sum of 3.3 billion naira as a loan to the State Pilgrims Welfare Board to enable it secure the 400 Hajj seats allocated to the state by the National Hajj Commission of Nigeria, NAHCON.

In a statement to newsmen in Dutse, the Commissioner for Information, Alhaji Sagir Musa Ahmed, explained that the loan reflects Governor Umar Namadi’s commitment to supporting the spiritual wellbeing of citizens.

He noted that the council’s decision was taken to safeguard and preserve Jigawa’s Hajj seat allocation in good time, ensuring smooth preparations ahead of the 2026 pilgrimage.

The Commissioner added that the State Pilgrims Welfare Board is expected to refund the loan in full before the commencement of the 2026 Hajj airlift.
