Kwara State Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq has called for increased security deployments to the state to flush out criminals responsible for recent attacks in parts of the state.

In a statement, the Governor’s spokesman, Rafiu Ajakaye, said that following an attack on the positions of forest guards and surrounding areas of Oke Ode, the state requires more military presence to curb the activities of criminals in parts of Kwara South and Kwara North.

The statement regretted the loss of innocent civilians and forest guards who mounted a spirited resistance against the assailants in the early hours of the incident, out of patriotism and love for their communities.

It also appreciated the efforts and immeasurable sacrifices of the security forces, as well as the successes recorded so far.

The statement urge the residents to remain calm and avoid the temptation to turn on themselves.

It equally commend all the forest guards and the local hunters who, lost five of their compatriots, and equally neutralised several of the attackers.

Meanwhile the Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders Association of Nigeria, MACBAN, Kwara state Chapter has dissociate itself from alleged involvement in the attack on innocent people in Kwara South Senatorial district of the state.

The Chairman of the association, Alhaji Shehu Garba stated this in a statement made available to newsmen in Ilorin, the Kwara state capital.

He called on the state government to urgently intervene and discourage people from labelling Miyetti Allah members as criminals.
