Kaduna Electric has been urged to settle the outstanding benefits of over 400 disengaged staff.
One of the affected staff, Baba Hassan Mohammed, made the appeal while briefing newsmen in Kaduna.
He explained that the company disengaged them based on its condition of service policy, but according to law and agreements, redundancy benefits must be paid before or immediately after disengagement.
According to him, an agreement was reached and signed by the company’s management, two in-house unions, and the Kaduna State Government, stipulating that payments to the disengaged staff would commence in January 2024 and be completed by August 2025.
However, Baba Hassan lamented that Kaduna Electric only paid 20 percent of the total entitlements between January and December 2024. Since then, no further payments have been made.
He therefore called on the company to fulfill its obligations by clearing the outstanding payments covering April to August 2025, in line with the agreement, to alleviate the hardship being faced by the disengaged workers and their families.
