The Training And Doctrine Command TRADOC Nigerian Army Minna Niger state, says it will continue to invest substantial amount of its resources for the advancement of research and development which is the basis for the industrialization of many countries around the world in which the Nigerian Army is not an exemption.

This had became imperative in order for the Nigerian Army and indeed Nigeria, not to be left behind in their various quest for speedy development and transformation.

The Commander Training And Doctrine Command TRADOC Nigerian Army, Major General Kevin Aligbe stated this while declaring opened a three day Research and Development workshop organized by the Nigerian Army in Minna, the Niger state capital.

Major General Kevin Aligbe explained that the three days conference would afford them the opportunity to delve into presentations and discussions on latest technologies and trends in research and development and how these can be utilized in modern warfare to facilitate success in battle field.

According to him it will also affords them the opportunity to share knowledge and brainstorm on new frontiers in emerging technologies and ideas that can contribute positively towards the Nigerian Army and the nation’s efforts of addressing Nigeria’s contemporary security challenges.

Major General Kevin Aligbe thanked the Chief Of Army Staff, Lieutenant General Olufemi Oluyede for providing the resources needed to conduct this conference as well as his purposeful leadership and unflinching support at all times, which he said had been yielded positive results.

The TRADOC Commander who served as the special guest of honour, acknowledged the untiring efforts of troops of Nigerian Army for their untiring efforts toiling day and night to keep Nigeria safe, stressing that moments like this gives them a veritable platform to reflect on those experiences and point new ways forward.

In his opening remarks, Chief of Research Development Test and Evaluation, TRADOC Nigerian Army, Major General Aminu Shehu Chinade, said the Armed Forces of Nigeria and in particular Nigerian Army has over the years being involved in research and development in order to develop capacities towards sustaining it’s transformational drive and multifaceted dynamic as well as evolving security challenges in line with it’s constitutional roles.

Major General Aminu Chinade however maintained that despite the modest achievements recorded by Nigerian Army, research and development is faced with numerous challenges which has militated against its effective contribution towards its growth and development, hoping that participants will come up with workable solutions to address such problems.

The theme of the three days workshop which was attended by all the representative of para military organisations in Niger state is “Research and Development A Paradigm For Doctrinal Guidance To Training In Contemporary Operational Environment”.

Papers were presented by some resource persons.
