Jigawa State Government has approved over 869 million naira for the renovation of additional structures in seven Model Tsangaya Schools across the state.

The State Commissioner for Information, Youth, Sports, and Culture, Alhaji Sagir Musa Ahmed, disclosed this shortly after the State Executive Council meeting held at the Government House, Dutse.

He explained that, the council approved the construction of 30 recitation halls and 30 Reading shades across traditional tsangaya schools ensuring one project per state constituency.

According to him, these projects are expected to significantly improve access to quality Islamic education, provide conducive learning environments for thousands of almajiri pupils, and the present administration’s broader effort to integrate Tsangaya education into the state’s human capital development agenda.

Alhaji Sagir Musa Ahmed further explained that, the council has also approved the disbursement of bursary allowances to eligible state indigenes studying in various tertiary institutions to the sum of over 1.5 Billion naira.

He pointed out that, this is intended to benefit a total of over 22,380 students currently enrolled in 83 tertiary institutions within and outside the state.

Sagir noted that, the bursary allowance program is a continuation of Governor Namadi’s strategic agenda to foster access to quality education, reduce financial burdens on parents, and empower Jigawa’s youth to attain academic and professional excellence.

The Commissioner added that, the approval covered 13,622 male and 8,766 female students, reflecting the administration’s inclusive approach to supporting educational aspirations across gender deserving beneficiaries for the 2024/2025 Academic Session.
