Isa Kaita College of Education, Dutsin-Ma, has held its first National Conference on Technical Education and Artificial Intelligence for Sustainable Development.
The Information Officer and Director of Establishment, Mukhtar Balangogo, disclosed this in a statement issued to newsmen in Katsina.
Mukhtar Balangogo said the conference, centered around the theme: “Role of Technical Education and Artificial Intelligence (AI) on Self-Reliance for Sustainable Development.”
Speaking at event, the Provost of the College, Dr Ismaila Ado described as a milestone event” in the life of the institution, adding that this is the first time a department in the College is organizing a national conference and the theme is both timely and forward-looking.
He stated that, “Artificial Intelligence has come to stay, and the need for self-reliance is a global solution to the scourge of unemployment.
Dr. Ado Funtua expressed the College’s commitment to sustaining such academic gatherings, encouraging other departments to follow suit.
He emphasized the institution’s support for research, innovation, and entrepreneurship, while calling on government, private sector, and philanthropists to provide research grants and endowments.
The Provost also commended Governor Dikko Umaru Radda, for his unwavering support to education in Katsina State, particularly in the areas of skill acquisition, infrastructure, and staff development.
In a goodwill message, the Commissioner for Higher, Vocational and Technical Education, represented by the Acting Permanent Secretary, Alh. Dikko Bala Kofar Sauri, applauded the Provost for fostering a culture of research and academic excellence.
He reaffirmed the State Government’s dedication to education, highlighting recent interventions including the establishment of skills acquisition centres and the award of full scholarships to 68 Katsina State indigenes to study Artificial Intelligence and Biotechnology abroad.
Earlier, the Chairman of occasion Prof. Kabir Ibrahim Matazu, commended the College’s progress in infrastructure and human capital development, describing research and publications as indispensable in the life of any academic institution
