The Director General of the Argungu International Fishing Festival, Alhaji Safiyanu Bena, has empowered youths with ₦1.7 million for their efforts in mobilising voters to collect their Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs) in three wards of Danko Wasagu Local Government Area, Kebbi State.
Speaking during the distribution exercise, Alhaji Safiyanu Bena, represented by Engineer Tukur Hamidu Bena, described the gesture as an act of generosity and a demonstration of his commitment to grassroots development.
He added that, the gesture also aligns with the ideals of Governor Nasir Idris which encourage political office holders and well-to-do individuals in the society to support community initiatives, empower youths, and promote civic responsibility
According to him, the sum of ₦1.7 million was released to support 85 volunteers from Bena, Ayu, and Dan-Umaru wards, adding that each volunteer will receive ₦2,500 daily for data and allowances for a period of eight days.
Bena added that, the effort is aimed at ensuring that, nobody is disenfranchised in the forthcoming 2027 elections in order to have a smooth mobilisation exercise in our communities, particularly encouraging new registrants to collect their PVCs.
It could be recalled that, the INEC has commenced online registration of eligible voters to review their registers as well as to collect their Permanent Voter Cards.
