Retirees under the National Pension Commission (PenCom) scheme have urged the Federal Government to closely monitor the payment of benefits to retired workers.

They explained that although the Commission received over ₦750 billion for the exercise, payments are still being made in piecemeal, which they described as inadequate.

The Retirees noted that twenty five per cent approved as withdrawal limit by the commission should be reviewed up to seventy five per cent to alleviate their sufferings while others suggested complete withdrawal of the benefits currently enjoyed by Pencom officials.

One of the affected pensioners, Alhaji Mika’ilu Sani Abdullahi expressed the Hope that the national Assembly would review the act establishing the commission to access all benefits at once for their sustenance.

Alhaji Mika’ilu Abdullahi was concerned that since introduction of the scheme many senior citizens had died without accessing their money for positive utilisation to justify their thirty-five years of service.
