Kaduna State University (KASU) has approved the establishment of 20 new development centres as part of efforts to strengthen research, innovation, and community service delivery.

The announcement was contained in a statement signed by Hamza Musa Makarfi, Director of Corporate Services at KASU, following the institution’s quarterly Governing Council meeting held in Kaduna.

According to the Pro-Chancellor and Chairman of Council, Dr. Husaini Adamu Dikko, the new centres would address critical societal needs, beginning with Kaduna State and extending to Nigeria at large.

Among them are the Centre for Renewable Energy Research, Centre for Peace and Conflict Resolution, Centre for Entrepreneurship and Innovation, Centre for Public Policy and Governance, Centre for Agricultural Development, and the Centre for Digital Learning and ICT Advancement.

Dr. Dikko added that the Council also endorsed frameworks to boost staff development and research, alongside the introduction of new academic programmes recently approved by the National Universities Commission (NUC).

He noted that staff promotions were also ratified as part of measures to deepen productivity, loyalty, and selfless service to the university.

To ensure effective implementation of its resolutions, the Council expanded KASU’s management structure to include the Director of Academic Planning, the Chief Security Officer, and another senior officer.

On international collaborations, Dr. Dikko disclosed that the Council approved at least ten agreements with globally reputable institutions, aimed at enhancing KASU’s visibility and positioning it as a leading partner for academic and research collaboration worldwide.

These resolutions are part of the steady progress we are making to grow Kaduna State University into a premier research-driven institution, capable of delivering solutions to society while competing globally,” Dr. Dikko said.
