Federal Pensioners’ Unions have been advised to compile the outstanding debts owed retired workers nationwide in order to avoid unnecessary controversy.

Pensioners of the Federal Radio Corporation of Nigeria (FRCN) and the Nigerian Television Authority (NTA) in Kaduna gave the advice while reacting to the delayed payment of benefits by the Federal Government, which recently triggered protests.

They stressed the need for proper articulation of all payments received in the past to know the balance expected from the relevant agencies, considering alleged lack of accountability in the process.

The Senior Citizens called on retirees with professional accounting and auditing experience to assist in the computation and ensure the debt s genuine for proper settlement as and when due.

One of the pensioners, Alhaji Aliyu Bello Shehu expressed support for the pressure mounted by leadership of the Federal Coalition of retired workers to ensure all benefits are paid to alleviate sufferings of the patriotic senior citizens.
