The wife and daughter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) Chairman in Patigi Local Government Area in Kwara, Muhammad Swasun, have been abducted by unidentified gunmen.
The incident occurred monday night when the gunmen scaled the fence of the APC chairman’s compound at the Sakpefu community.
According to eye witnesses, the gunmen fired shots sporadically to cause panic before breaking into one of the rooms and abducting the two victims, identified as Hajiya Fatima, the wife, and Amina, the daughter.
A member of the state executive council, who confirmed the incident, said the chairman was “fortunate not to have been kidnapped” by the assailants.
The Kwara State Police Command has confirmed the abduction, noting that efforts are ongoing to rescue the victims and apprehend the perpetrators.
The incident adds to a series of recent security challenges in Kwara state , particularly in the northern senatorial district, where communities like Patigi, Ifelodun, and Edu have experienced a rise in kidnappings and armed attacks.
