The Command’s Public Relations Officer, SC Ibrahim Idris Abdullahi, on behalf of the State Commandant, Shafi’u Abdulmumini, disclosed this to Newsmen in Kano.

He said the suspects were apprehended following credible intelligence from local vigilantes in Hayin Da’e, Hotoro and Tarauni Local Government Area.

Abdullahi said the suspects were caught with vandalised transformer cables believed to have been removed from a transformer in the area during the night.

The arrested suspects include Muhammad Yusuf, 18; Muhammad Sani Adamu, 19; Umar Musa, 19; Ahmed Auwal, 20; Muhammad Yusuf, 28; and Usman Ali, 19.

Most of them are said to be residents of the affected communities.

“Preliminary investigations revealed that the suspects had been terrorising residents of Hayin Da’e, Farawa Kwanar Yashi, and Hotoro Eastern Bypass with acts of burglary, theft, and vandalisation of electricity installations,” Abdullahi stated.

The NSCDC spokesperson maintained that confessional statements have already been obtained from the suspects, while further investigations are ongoing to apprehend more individuals connected to the crime.

He assured that the suspects would be charged to court upon the conclusion of investigations.

The Corps Commandant, Shafi’u Abdulmumini, reiterated the commitment of the NSCDC to safeguarding critical infrastructure and ensuring the protection of lives and property in the state.

He further disclosed that surveillance and patrol operations had been intensified across Kano to curb the activities of vandals and other criminal elements.

The Command also commended members of the local vigilante group for their timely intelligence, which led to the arrest, urging residents to remain vigilant and continue to collaborate with security agencies to rid their communities of crime.
