Federal Government has again been urged to implement the new minimum pension for retired workers across the country.

The appeal was made by federal pensioners in reaction to reports that the old rate was paid last month by the Pension Transitional Arrangement Directorate despite earlier assurances.

They stressed the need for the relevant authorities particularly minister of Finance Mr. Wale Edun to provide necessary funds to pay the new rates and outstanding arrears to alleviate sufferings of the senior citizens.

One of the retirees Alhaji Shehu Isa Soba reminded the stakeholders of the recent protests over the issue which may continue unless such benefits are duly paid.

Alhaji Shehu Soba expressed dismay over alleged non implementation of the twenty-twenty four and twenty-twenty five budgets which provided funds for the settlement of the arrears and called for the National Assembly intervention rather than wait for another budget.
