The National Assembly will receive President Bola Ahmed Tinubu this coming Thursday during a special joint session to commemorate this year’s Democracy Day celebration.
In a Statement by the Clerk to the House of Representatives, Dr. Yahaya Danzaria, members of the parliament were formally notified, and that the special joint sitting is scheduled to begin with preliminary proceedings at 11:00 a.m., ahead of President Tinubu’s arrival at 12:00 noon.
The statement explained that the theme of this year’s celebration titled “26 Years of Democracy: Renewing Commitment to National Development”, with the President, delivering address to the Joint Sitting, being the Special Guest of Honour.
According to the statement, the programme will also feature goodwill messages from former presiding officers of the National Assembly, as well as the conferment of national honours on selected legislators by President Tinubu.
The House, however, urged Nigerians to embrace the spirit of Democracy Day as a time for reflection, renewed patriotism, and a commitment to building a more inclusive, prosperous, and united nation.
