President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has directed for the immediate deployment of all available resources by the Federal Government to Niger state to ease the hardship faced by victims of Mokwa flood disaster.

The President also directed every government agency to do what it takes to bring succour to the victims, stressing that both the President, Federal Government ad indeed Nigerians stand with Niger state in this period of trying moment.

Represented by leader of the delegation and Minister Of Information and National Orientation, Mohammed Idris Malagi, President Tinubu said he is deeply saddened by the unfortunate incident which he described as one disaster too many, while explained that his administr,ation is looking for the possibility of providing a permanent solution to mitigate such problem.

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu however directed the National Orientation Agency NOA to embark on massive enlightenenent campaign to sensitize and educate people on the dangers of living on waterways or riverine areas to forestall future occurrence.

He also expressed regret that though similar incident affected the community last year, which he said is a recurrence that is getting too many would wants the people of Niger state to be provided with whatever is required by the Federal Government to function effectively.

President Tinubu who commiserate with people and government of Niger state, stressed the need for all hand to be on deck to achieve the desired objective.

In his remarks, Minister of Humanitarian Affairs
Disaster Management and Social Development, Dr Nentawe Yilwatda said they will meet with officials of Niger state Government to review areas of needs and ensure it’s provision for meaningful progress.

Niger state Governor Mohammed Umar Bago thanked President Tinubu, the Minister Of Information and National Orientation Mohammed Idris and his entourage for the sympathy visit, saying that two hundred and houses were affected by the flood, one hundred and fifty one bodies buried of which thirty six corpses were found in Raba community and eleven persons injured.

Represented by his Deputy Comrade Yakubu Garba the Governor approved the release of six thousand bag of rice for distribution to victims to ameliorate their hardship.

While warning individuals against using personal account to seek for donations, the Governor appealed to corporate and philanthropic organisations to come to the aid of victims of Mokwa flood disaster through dedicated government account.
